Use: The NMR LipoProfile® test may be ordered for individuals with obesity, metabolic syndrome or diabetes, individuals who have had a myocardial infarction or who have a family history of cardiovascular disease and individuals with low HDL and high triglyceride levels.
Limitations: The LDL-C and LP-IR Scores will be inaccurate if the patient is not fasting.
Additional Information: LDL Particle Size (small), Large HDL (low levels), and Large VLDL (high levels) contribute to CHD risk and are important markers of the Metabolic Syndrome and risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
