Clinical Significance: ApoC3 has been reported to be tightly associated with triglyceride metabolism and coronary artery disease (CAD) susceptibility. HDL-associated ApoC3 is elevated in CAD patients and inversely correlated with cholesterol efflux capacity.1 Genetic epidemiological studies found that loss-of-function mutations in the ApoC3 gene is associated with reduced CAD risk and total ApoC3 is associated with increased risk for cardiovascular events.2,3
